Capone was responsible for many brutal acts of violence, mainly against other gangsters. The most famous of these was the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre in 1929, in which he ordered the assassination of seven rivals. Capone was never indicted for his racketeering but was finally brought to justice for income-tax evasion in 1931. After serving six-and-a-half years, Capone was released. He died in 1947 in Miami. Capone’s life captured the public imagination, and his gangster persona has been immortalized in the many movies and books inspired by his exploits.

This website was published by Eric Szandzik who was an undergraduate at Michigan State University and was last updated in 2008. His website was published in order to provide some educational insight to “The World’s Most Notorious Gangster”.
The home page of the website is visually captivating with a picture of Al Capone and a color scheme of red, black, and gray. On the Left there are several tabs that lead to subpages. The first secondary page you can opt to click is a link titled “The Early Years” that gives a brief description of his roots and what his childhood and parents were like. Next there is a tab titled “ Involvement in the Criminal World” that goes over his initial involvement that began with Johnny Torrio, which he claims to be his mentor, and it talks about events and what his involvement actually was. You can then journey onto the prohibition link that covers what the Prohibition was and why it was initiated and what it caused in terms of crime. The next direction you can go is Corruption that explains events that cover his involvement in corruption of justice and how he remained undetected for so long, and then you can journey onto the Conviction and Death link that covers how he ended up eventually getting convicted and about how he died and when. And the last very informative tab goes over his legacy and how he left a long lasting impression on society. There is also a bibliography and a little excerpt about the author. Throughout the site there are pictures to provide a more visually pleasing effect to the text as you read.
This site is very straight to the point and brief, but gives some good information to help understand Al Capone and his life. This is a good quick reference for educational purposes and it also provides some good pictures. I think this is a good starting point in learning about the infamous Al Capone.
